For those who have been to popular Europe and have done just the cities will find the beauty of the East very different. A place of culture and a dark past, East Europe is a much more enriching experience than the West. From East Germany to Slovenia and through Hungary and Poland, it is very important that this tour is seen from its countryside. Since most of the Countries in this part of Europe are very medieval; the Feeling while roaming in the Big Cities is somewhat similar. We try and create Variety in the sights so that Castles, Museums, and Cathedrals no matter how pretty shouldn’t be repetitive. We also believe that the real Beauty lies in the Countryside and therefore our stays in Lake Bohinj, Slovenia, Istria in Croatia and the stay in Zakopane in Poland appeals to our People and remains with them for a long time.
This part of Europe we believe is richer in Culture than its Western Neighbor. Food and People are an important part of this Culture. You will find that the people here are more friendly and the food richer. Since the Prices are not very expensive we make random stops for Lunch (Euro 5 -8 Per Head) and Encourage people to Eat Locally. We are sure with a little bit of Flexibility (Vegetarians Have No Problems) you can enjoy this Tour more.
Out of the 15 nights of Hotel stay, we live in the countryside of Central Europe for 9 nights. Poland, Croatia, and Slovenia will enchant you with its natural beauty. The culture of East Europe is what we want you to experience and we promote local food extensively on this tour.
Arrive in Berlin at 1350 hrs by Turkish Airlines. The evening is free to walk around and to get the feel of Berlin as we visit the Berlin Wall and areas surrounding it.
In the morning, check out and enjoy the city tour of Berlin, which includes the Brandenburg Gate and Checkpoint Charlie, where the ruins of the Berlin wall can be seen. Later we will drive to Bad Schandau. In the evening, check in to our hotel in Bad Schandau on the border of Czech and Germany.
After a very leisurely morning, we will drive into the Saxon Swiss National Park and to Bastei where the views of the Elbe are breathtaking. We will also have a chance to check out the sandstone peaks of the area. We will then walk down hill to the town of Rathen and after crossing over to the other side of the Elbe River, we will drive to Meissen to view the porcelain factory of Meissen. Lunch will be enjoyed in the old town of Meissen. In the evening, relax in the hotel back in Bad Schandau.
After breakfast, proceed to Prague. Our city tour includes Town Centre, Astronomical Clock and the Charles Bridge. We will drive to Brno, the second largest town in the Czech Republic for a night stay. The purpose of this drive is to reduce the travel time to the Polish border on the next day.
After breakfast check out and proceed to Poland. Our first stop will be Auschwitz, the biggest Labor Camp of World War 2. The Nazi war crimes can be witnessed here in the Auschwitz and Birkenau Museum. After lunch we will reach Krakow by evening. This is the longest journey of our tour but we shall make it interesting by travelling through the Czech countryside.
Krakow is a town with a lot of character. Today we will enjoy a 3-hour city tour which will include the area of the Wawel Castle perched on the Hill Top. Later we will take a walk in the Old Town Square to see the old cloth market and the St Mary’s Church. After free time for lunch, we will proceed to the Salt Mines in Wieliczka. These mines although non-functional are a rare sight to visit. The Salt Cathedral is the central attraction of the mines.
After a leisurely breakfast, we will be on our way to the foothills of the Tatras Mountain Range. The little town of Zakopane is like a charming little Swiss hill station and before we arrive there we will be greeted by beautiful mountain scenery and typical houses. The evening is free to walk on the shopping street to feel the pulse of this Alpine Town.
In the morning, we will take the funicular tram up the Mt. Gubalowka (1120 m) to enjoy excellent views of the surrounding areas up to Slovakia. Later, return to the base and proceed to Szentendre. We will drive today through most of the Slovakian countryside.
After breakfast, we will explore the small town of Szentendre, which is known for its Art and well-preserved character. Post that, we will drive to Budapest which is divided into Buda and Pest by river Danube. In the afternoon, we will explore the highlights of this beautiful city which includes the Hero Square, Budapest Opera House (under construction) and the great view from the Castle District after which we will enjoy a dinner cruise on the Danube, viewing this beautiful city by night. Return to Szentendre for the night stay
Today we will drive to Croatia. As we cross the border from Hungary to Croatia, we will visit the Beautiful Town of Varazdin, the ex-Capital of Croatia. We continue on our drive after lunch to reach Zagreb. We will then have a half day walking city tour (4 hrs).
After an early breakfast, we will check out and head to the wonder of Croatia, the Plitvice Lakes. This is a national park with walkways that pass through natural lakes and you can enjoy the waterfalls on the way. After lunch, we will proceed to the real countryside of Croatia, the Peninsula of Istria, and check into the hotel for dinner. The hotel is situated overlooking the Adriatic Sea in the port city of Opatija.
After a traditional Croatian breakfast, we will spend the day travelling in the interiors. We will taste the truffles (local mushrooms) and visit the beautiful blue coast of Istria. We will have local lunch and then return back to Opatija for a free evening.
Today, we will depart for Slovenia. Our first halt will be at the natural wonder of Postojna caves created by the Pivka River. A train will take us to the centre from where a walking tour will take us through the various Karst Caves formed due to water erosion. After a typical Slovenian lunch, we will head to Lake Bohinj in the foothills of the Julian Alps, the parallel mountain chain to the Swiss Alps. In the evening you have the entire lake to yourself and the only one to share it are the mountains around which form a perfect impression on its clear blue waters.
In the morning we will head to the Vogel Cable Car station to go up the mountain and enjoy the beautiful view of the Lake Bohinj and the surrounding mountains and villages. Later, drive to Lake Bled to enjoy a Gondola ride in the lake and go up to the Church of Assumption in the middle of the lake.
